Art City - Peep Show Pavilion Honorable Mention

Hey, wouldn't ya know it!.. Christina and I won a honorable mention in a small competition held in Calgary. We won an honorable mention for our entry.. which is great because we had such a fun time working on it together.. the hard work paid off!.. below are images of our entry boards. The idea is to create a pavilion that display art in a public manner.. In our case it was digital art in a parking lot... Our idea was to use the pavilion to transform the parking lot into an urban drive in theatre by night and a cultural billboard or notifier by day. This is the link to the competition website.. http://www.art-city.ca/

60-60-60-Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY, NY - 03

The view from my window now...........

This is a a photograph of a building that I look at out my window here in Williamsburg. This building used to be used by a food distributor, however I noticed one day the distributor was gone...?.. and I knew something was up... as it turns out one of my friends; his office is designing a building to be built there. I believe it will be 75' tall due to a city zoning regulation which will be taller than my window... but not too much taller.. so I should still get sun in the afternoon... .. Well I thought I should give my two cents worth...

The View from my window after ....

The idea is to maintain my view corridor, and have a public space on the roof top, with great views of manhattan... The view corridor is converted into a ramp which will provide access to both the public park on the roof, and the private residences within the building..

60-60-60 Clarification

Okay, okay.. after plenty of hastling from mr.baker, I must make one think clear.. There was disappointment that i was not following through on '60 days' which was interpreted to mean consecutive days of posts.... i prefered to think of it as 60 days non-consecutive.. however that was not good enough.... so to please the fans.... i will say in 60 consecutive weeks...

there.. in the name of art..

Alsop Railway Crossing

My good friend anonymous told me about this proposal for Toronto's Railway in the West end, by Will Alsop Architects out of England. Pretty cool idea.. and good for urban living. It's super helpful when two clients of Mr. Alsop's are on either side of the railway.... This way we don't have to depend on the City of Toronto to push this forward.. keepin it in the private sector has it's advantages.

60-60-60-Lower East Side (L.E.S.)-02

L.E.S. is currently under seige by developement that unfortunately looks like is going to cater to a high income bracket only. I am not against development for those with high income, however, I am cautious of developement that is only for high income, or any income for that matter. Part of what makes an urban area interesting and diverse is diversity in incomes and uses, amongst many other factors. So, I propose a multi-income, multi-density housing solution just South of Delancy St. A proposition that is a series of strands that are 25' wide (similar to exisitng bldg.s on the site) varying in height to form low-density and high-density living solutions. The roof scape is thought of as a secondary terrain that forms public and private park space the services both the community and the individuals living in the proposal.
